Management

The management team of Kumbuka Afrika is composed of individuals who each bring more than 15 years of experience in the development of the mining sector in the Great Lakes Region (GLR) of Africa. They are all leaders in the implementation of the OECD’s Due Diligence Guidance (DDG) for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas through the International Tin Supply Chain Initiative (ITSCI). They have each worked for more than a decade in supporting Artisanal and Small-scale Miners (ASM) and mining companies in all aspects of responsible mineral production and trade. This includes supporting them with DDG and with addressing/mitigating human rights abuses, security incidents and other risks in mineral supply chains.

Experience

The team is highly experienced in facilitating dialogue and mediation with multiple stakeholders from government, security forces, mining operators, and civil society organisations, whilst building the capacity of these stakeholders, building partnerships, and facilitating constructive dialogue. The multilingual Kumbuka Afrika team has intensive experience in managing multi-million-dollar budgets from local and international donors, including corporations, ensuring those funds are used effectively and transparently to achieve significant results and impact.
