In DR Congo, Kumbuka Afrika will implement the project in 2024 in collaboration with the other following civil society organizations:

1. Association pour le Development Regional Integre (ADERI)

Is a local NGO working in the mining sector in Kolwezi. ARDERI worked with Kumbuka Afrika previously in 2009 on a project funded by USAID. ARDERI was one of the members of the consortium that won the project with Kumbuka Afrika as a prime. They have been working with Kumbuka Afrika on the ITSCI project since 2010 Show More

2. BEPAT

BEPAT is a local organization and a Bureau d’Etude on Mines Sector based in Bukavu and operating in North Kivu, South Kivu, and Maniema. BEPAT is focused on technical support to organizations working in the mining sector for the sustainability of mining activities in eastern DRC. BEPAT provides training, regular assessment, and monitoring of mineral reserves; occupational, health, and safety management of artisanal zones; and the creation of databases on the type of mineral by area, mineral flow, value, origin, quality, and volume of minerals. 3. Save Act Mines (SAM)

Save Act Mines (SAM) is a Civil Society Organization based in Goma, North Kivu. SAM is focused on the promotion and implementation of due diligence in accordance with the OECD Guidelines for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains from conflict or high-risk areas. SAM previously collaborated with other donors on mining sector transparency before joining the ITSCI project to manage the whistleblowing mechanism. Show More

4. Maniema Liberté (MALI)

Maniema Liberté (MALI), based in Maniema, is an NGO created in 1997. The objective of the NGO is to contribute to the promotion of human rights, peace, and democracy, as well as the management of natural resources in Maniema. MALI is operational throughout the different territories of Maniema, including Kalima, Punia, Kailo, Kasongo, Kabambare, and Lubutu. MALI will ensure field implementation and local institutional representation of the ITSCI – Maniema whistleblowing project. MALI in collaboration with Kumbuka Afrika Project Manager and Save Act Mine’s General Director will be responsible for liaising with the relevant government services, ensuring their cooperation and that the correct data collection activities are conducted.. 5. La Fondation Hirondelle / Studio Hirondelle

Studio Hirondelle is a Swiss non-profit organization that provides information to populations facing crises, to enable them to act in their daily lives and as citizens. Founded in 1995 and based in Lausanne, Fondation Hirondelle has created and developed over its first 25 years 23 news media, FM radio stations, multimedia programs, and “pure player” websites in 22 countries facing major crises: conflicts, humanitarian disasters, revolutions, climate change, massive violations of Human Rights... Each year, Fondation Hirondelle's teams provide support to more than 500 local media and provide training to more than 500 journalists, technicians, and media managers. Kumbuka Afrika works with La Fondation Hirondelle since 2020 to conduct a radio-based awareness-raising campaign about the ITSCI whistleblowing mechanism to promote a responsible and conflict-free mineral supply chain and allow anonymous and free reporting of illegal activities, human rights violations, and other abuses related to mineral exploitation and trade. 6. Agir pour la Reconstruction de notre Espace et la Convivialité (AGIREC)

Agir pour la Reconstruction de notre Espace et la Convivialité (AGIREC) : It is a local organisation, based in Maniema and work on the The promotion and defense of economic, social and cultural rights; the retraining of minors with a view to the emergence of a development mentality; the fight against corruption, impunity, exclusion and the culture of peace; the promotion and defense of human rights including the right to development, peace, justice, security, education, a healthy environment and to assume one's cultural and social identity. 7. Action des Chrétiens Activistes des Droits de l’homme a Shabunda (ACADOSHA)

It is local organisation, created in 2009 and working mainly in south Kivu. They are working on the promotion and defense of human rights with an emphasis on the rights of victims, witnesses, women and children; the promotion of justice and the fight against impunity; the fight against climate change and environmental degradation; the fight against climate change and environmental degradation; the promotion of sustainable management of natural resources by ensuring the participation of local communities and indigenous peoples in making related decisions and the fight against poverty through the promotion of sustainable development. 8. Institut pour la Gouvernance et l’Education Electorale (IGE) :

IGE Is a local civil society organization created on April 30, 1990; registered at the Ministry of Planning under No. 071/MIN.PL/DCRE/96, registered at the Ministry of Justice under No. F.922743 and authorized to operate by Order No. 08/CAB/MIN/RIJ&GS/98 of 04/10/1998 from the Minister of Justice.
